Spotify is redesigning the app’s core home screen to make it easier for users to discover new things. The new design focuses on images and vertical scrolling, transforming the home screen from a series of album covers into a feed much like TikTok or Instagram. As you scroll, Spotify also wants to make it easy to discover new things across the Spotify ecosystem. The new look Spotify just unveiled at its Stream On event is clear evidence of the company (and product) Spotify wants to be. Having invested heavily in podcasts, audiobooks, live audio and more over the past few years, all aiming to be more than just music apps, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek announced in 2021 that the platform Above, he says he wants to welcome more than 50 million “audio creators.” Spotify has also been pushing the realization of video his podcasts for years.
YouTube will allow more creators to dub their videos in multiple languages
YouTube will enable thousands more creators to add multilingual audio tracks to their videos. The company has already tested the feature with a small number of creators and will soon allow more creators to include multilingual dubbing in their videos to reach a wider audience. Clicking on the gear icon reveals an option for ‘Audio Track’ and clicking on it reveals the various language options available. Videos also default to the user’s preferred language. In early testing, YouTube said he had “already viewed over 3,500 multilingual videos uploaded in over 40 languages” as of January. Videos dubbed into multiple languages are clearly seeing an increase in viewing time, with 15% being attributed to “viewing videos in a non-primary language” in January. Multilingual dubbed videos also mean that creators don’t need to maintain separate channels just to host videos in different languages. Instead, just dub the video on the main channel.
