Spotify announced a Showcase at Stream On 2023. This is a new marketing tool that places releases on the homepages of interested listeners.
A few weeks ago, Spotify broadcast their latest Stream On live event. The star of the show and the feature that affects the most people is the newly redesigned homepage. The new home of the Spotify app will soon have a discovery feed of Spotify clips like TikTok.
Spotify’s marketing tools have always benefited from targeting the right listeners with the right app. Spotify promotes new releases and listens to music on apps that users already have access to. Combine this with detailed listener data and in-depth analytics for every user and you have the independent musician’s best friend.
At the event, Spotify showcased three artist discovery tools. large tent (and its effectiveness), discovery modeand ShowcaseShowcase works in tandem with the new home feed. Showcases are sponsored visual posts within the new feed. These can highlight new releases or catalog releases to both free and premium users who have previously expressed interest in your music.
Showcase is currently being tested with a small number of artists and labels before rolling out more broadly on Spotify for Artists. Presumably, Spotify Premium users will be able to hide these sponsored posts if they decide they’re irrelevant, just like Marquee does.
With RouteNote, you can upload to Spotify and manage your artist pages, all for free, with built-in tools to claim your Spotify for Artists page within your profile!
