Boomy Founder and CEO Alex Mitchell issued the following statement: XXL About Spotify removing thousands of user-generated songs from its Boomy service.

Spotify is reportedly taking action against the current onslaught of AI-generated songs by removing a large number of computer-generated songs from its platform.
The popular streaming platform has deleted tens of thousands of artificially intelligent songs created using emerging AI song-creation company Boomy. XXL I confirmed with a Spotify representative on Wednesday (May 10). This reportedly represents 7% of the songs posted on the platform created by the service, which launched in 2019. These songs were flagged and removed not specifically for their use of AI, but for “artificial streaming” (a tactic that utilizes online bots). Increase your audience for a specific song.
“Artificial streaming is a long-standing industry-wide problem that Spotify is working to eradicate across its services,” said a Spotify representative. The AI-generated song trend is taking the music industry by storm, with fake tracks from some of our favorite artists (some of whom are now dead) popping up every day. Music conglomerate Universal Music Group is trying to stay ahead of the trend. They successfully petitioned to remove a number of the artist’s AI-generated songs from streaming platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube.
