Spotify reinstates songs from AI music generator app Boomy

Spotify seems to have revived songs from AI music generator Boomy following recent “stream manipulation” allegations.

“We are pleased to share that curated distribution of new releases by Boomy artists to Spotify has been re-enabled,” the platform announced Saturday via social media. “Supporting artists and creators using the Boomy platform is our number one priority, and we thank you for your patience over the past few days.”

Just last week, Spotify removed a number of tracks made by Boomy and blocked new releases from its AI music platform due to alleged “artificial streaming”.

“Artificial streaming is an industry-wide problem that Spotify is working to eradicate across our services. We will mitigate that impact by taking measures such as tax withholding,” a Spotify spokesperson said of the move.

In response, Boomy CEO Alex Mitchell said the platform “absolutely opposes any kind of manipulation or artificial streaming” and that supporting the artists and creators who use the service is a top priority. said it was a matter.

“We are working with our industry partners to address this issue and resume distribution of Boomy artist content on the Spotify platform,” he added.

The news comes amid growing concerns over the prevalence of AI music, which has received varying degrees of backlash from industry stakeholders.

Earlier this year, Universal Music Group asked streaming services to block AI companies from accessing songs from their catalogs to “train” their AI. Calls for greater oversight by streaming services for the use of generative AI on their platforms are also being made to curb the flow of AI work.
