Dr. Dre, Mobb Deep and The Clips Top 3 on Spotify’s List
Spotify has released a list of the 50 greatest hip-hop beats of all time in honor of the Bronx-born music genre’s 50th anniversary later this year.
This list is made up of some of the most popular hip-hop songs in history spanning several eras and decades. Top beats on the list are Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s ‘Still DRE’ and Mobb Deep’s ‘Shook Ones Pt.’, as revealed on social media via RapCaviar. II” came in at number two, while The Clips’ “Grindin'” came in at number three.
Others include “Who Shot Ya” by The Notorious BIG, “A Miri” by Lil Wayne, “Power” by Kanye West, “It’s All About the Benjamins” by Puff Daddy (Remix) )” and Mike Jones’ “Still Trippin’” also made the top ten. “SICKO MODE” by Travis Scott and Drake, “Get Ur Freak On” by Missy Elliott.
Spotify’s editorial team has compiled and curated the list. Their selection and order was based on originality, replay value, production value, impact, innovation, and overall impact. The streaming service will continue to release hip-hop playlists until August 11th, the anniversary of hip-hop.
