Spotify | Introducing Fresh Finds

Spotify Stages hosted a Fresh Finds concert on March 23, with indie artists BAERD, Abby Sage, Katherine Li and TiaCorine joining the line-up. There are plenty of Spotify-made playlists that are mainstays in the average Spotify listener’s rotation. There are playlists for genres, artists, moods, etc., but they’re not as impactful as Fresh Finds. First released around 2015, this playlist features songs from up-and-coming indie her artists and spotlights their new releases.

This concert is the first of its kind and will not be the last. The audience listened to BAERD’s powerful folk-rock, Abby Sage’s sensual and groovy indie-pop, Katherine Li’s rom-com pop soundtrack of her teenage years in her ’80s, and TiaCorine’s electric her flow. was fascinated by all four of her artists. Each artist took the stage and performed 4-5 songs. This is the perfect “get to know me” set that combines the playlist’s most famous songs, some Deep Her cuts, and unreleased gems.

Each artist brings their own experiences, dreams, thoughts and backgrounds to the table. But despite the big difference in genre, the night flowed effortlessly from artist to next, creating an atmosphere full of great music and appreciation for what these artists brought to his Spotify stage. Prior to the performance, Flaunt sat down with each artist to learn a little more about their style, dreams, favorite songs, and more.

Beard

BAERD is the musician name of Nashville-based artist Isaiah Beard. Described as the rippling core of a brook and the tree-climbing core of his indie folk, his Beard captivates audiences with guitars and unrelenting Texan charm. His latest release “Tell Me That You Love Me” is featured on Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist. The song, which Beard described to the audience at his Los Angeles show, was inspired by the kind of emotional conflict that could only happen in a car.

What song do you sing in the car?

Oh this is cruel to be honest. Pine Grove “Intrepid”. Sing “Only the Lonely Know” by Frank Sinatra alone in the car. And the Irish folk song “Rambling Boys of Pleasure”.

When did you feel that making music was right for you?

When I was 11 or 12, I had just started playing guitar and was in a band with other musicians. I was practicing and hanging out in the basement with a friend who was a bassist, and we started playing music together and doing the same thing for hours. I realized that I was feeling the best I’ve ever felt. It was such an escape for me.

What are you working on now?

So now I produce for other artists for a living. We plan to release some records later this year. Then I work on my next record and work on the release of my current record. You can’t go wrong with producing and producing music.

Abby Sage

Abby Sage is a mysterious and charming person. A singer-songwriter from Toronto, she grew up watching her father perform around town and was fascinated by her stage. She began writing and recording her own music in her high school, which she released in secret until her success could not be ignored. Her song “High Five” from her recent EP now flower shop You can find it in the Fresh Finds playlist. Featuring faint vocals and groovy melodies, it transports you into a whimsical dream world.

where is your music

It’s been pretty random lately. I feel more attached to the music that people show me because I have an intimate connection with it. But in the last few months, I’ve been trying to live quietly, so I haven’t listened to much. I want to study more music.

When did you feel that making music was right for you?

I don’t know, but I think I loved it all along. When I was a kid, I used to hang out with his father because he was into music. Every time I saw a movie or something and fell in love with it, I would write a song about it. So he recorded one song about Harry Potter, which was very interesting. That’s what I’ve always done.

What was your last dream?

Lately my dreams have become more abstract. They’re usually pretty literal and funny. But I designed a stage set based on a dream I had, so you can see it tonight. they are great

Catherine Lee

Catherine Lee is a singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada. The 20-year-old first came onto the scene after her TikTok went viral singing a medley of Bruno Mars songs. After exploding with enthusiastic and supportive comments, Lee began writing her own songs that focused on teenage love and anguish. Introduced in, it deals with heartbreak and the transition to electric beats.

What inspires your creativity?

So my love life is kind of lazy, I’m not going to lie, but I think that’s mostly why. I love romantic comedies, so I like those movies too.

What song would you like to sing in the car?

Oh my god, Taylor Swift. I love Taylor Swift!of 1989 the album is very good reputation is also great. Those are definitely my go-tos at the moment.

What are you working on now?

Right now I’m working on a lot of sessions for my next project. It’s very exciting because its first single is out tonight. But yeah, just exploring new sounds and writing about new subjects and things like that.

Tiacolin

TiaCorine is a rapper from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She grew up listening to all kinds of music and she began appearing in her talent show in fourth grade. She released her first single “Lotto” in 2020 and has amassed a sizable fan base online. After that, she released her two albums and many singles including her most popular song “Freaky T”. Her connection with her audience is truly remarkable, performing her fan favorites and getting everyone on their feet.

What inspires your creativity?

life itself. Friends, things you like, things you don’t say, things you want to say. I am just me and finding interesting things in life. Don’t take it too seriously, just laugh and it’s okay. Look? It’s just funny! I think I’m just enjoying life and finding interesting things in it. As for the music, you can blend loops and not worry about offending anyone at the moment. Yeah, being an open ship is what keeps me creative.

What song do you sing in the car?

Definitely this song is “Joe Morris”, SZA’s “Prom” and just plain old school shit. My daughter and I love ‘In The Air Tonight’ by Phil Collins.

What are you working on now?

I’m on tour right now, so I literally flew in from Cincinnati and got back here at 5:45am for tomorrow’s show. We’ve just finished a tour and are planning a remix of “Freaky T” and a video for it. I mean, I have about 400 songs stored, so I really don’t care when I drop them. There are a lot of bigger artists and bigger producers reaching out so I’m just working with everyone. .

Each of these artists’ performances were very in tune with their music. They maintained a connection with the audience throughout the entire set, provided guests with a great experience, and left the venue with more fans than they entered. Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist continues to be one of the biggest departures for independent artists, and it looks like it will continue for a while.
