Spotify will support 11 new languages on its mobile app, bringing the total to 74 languages.
Since Spotify launched support for 27 languages, it has expanded that number several times. The last major language addition was in 2021, with 36 new languages added. Today’s rollout includes support for several regional language dialects, giving users a more personalized experience when using the Spotify app.

Now millions of users around the world can access Spotify in their native or local language. Spotify is still hoping to attract new users, despite job cuts and Daniel Ek’s admission that the company grew too fast during the pandemic. Spotify has over 456 million monthly listeners and is continuously looking to grow that number, especially by attracting free users to its premium subscriptions.
Spotify bet big on its podcast strategy during the pandemic, paying big bucks for talent and technology. Now, the company appears to be streamlining this strategy as Dawn Ostroff, the key executive in charge of directing the podcast division, retires. A smoke signal that Spotify was dissatisfied with its own podcasting strategy, discontinued 11 of its original podcasts in 2022 and laid off nearly 40 people.
After joining Spotify in 2018, Ostroff played a key role in shaping the company’s podcasting strategy. She has signed talent deals with Kim Kardashian, former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Spotify’s most popular podcast remains “The Joe Rogan Experience,” and rumor has it that Spotify may have paid her over $250 million for exclusive rights to the podcast. Mr. Ostroff will continue to serve as Senior Advisor to Mr. Ostroff during the transition period. Meanwhile, Alex Norström is responsible for content, advertising and licensing.
