The Southern Opera and Musical Theater Company of the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) will perform Mozart’s comedy “Cosi fan tutte” at the Manoni Performing Arts Center Auditorium on Thursday, March 30 and Saturday, April 1 at 7:30 p.m. Closing out the 2023 season.
This special concert performance of the opera will be sung in Italian with English subtitles. Tickets can be purchased at the Southern Miss Ticket Office.
The humorous story tells the story of two young soldiers who bet their fiancés will remain loyal to them in the face of temptation. The result is hilarious misunderstandings, awkward situations, and emotional scenarios. Will the young women prove loyal or succumb to temptation? Will they turn the tables and play pranks on their men?
“Audiences have come to love the show and it has become a classic in regular productions for many opera companies around the world,” says Jonathan Yarrington, vocal professor, production director and narrator at the USM School of Music. says Dr. “With beautifully crafted sets by Wes Hanson and detailed costumes by Tammy Mansfield, this is a beautiful production to see and hear.”
