The Smashing Pumpkins will announce an extensive North American summer tour on Tuesday morning (March 28), with the veteran Chicago band continuing through late July through early September.
The 26-day Live Nation production tour, dubbed The World is a Vampire Tour, refers to the iconic line of 1995’s “Bullet with Butterfly Wings,” and will take place on July 28 in Chelsea for two dates. We plan to kick off on our first schedule. At the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, followed by Albuquerque, Dallas and West Palm.
The tour will feature a rotating cast of opening acts such as Interpol, Stone Temple Pilots and Rival Suns, as well as matches featuring the biggest stars of the Corgan-owned National Wrestling Alliance. Pre-sales for the show will begin on Tuesday and will run until Thursday (March 30) at 10pm local time. General sale begins Friday (March 31) at 10am local time. Click here for ticket details.
“I grew up in a world that needed to know that bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure existed. It meant there was a place,” Corgan said in a statement announcing the desired tour. Fans will remember the classic alternative tours and festivals of the 1990s. “That’s ‘The World Is a Vampire.’ It brings back that sense of community. If you don’t fit in, you belong here. It’s about sharing experiences and respecting others, but ultimately A true alternative festival where self-proclaimed weirdos and outsiders from all over the world can come together and party.”
The Pumpkins’ driving wave new single, “Spellbinding,” made its radio debut on Tuesday morning when Corgan appeared on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM radio show, during which the band was in the studio. performed “1979” and “Empire” live. Atumscheduled to be released on May 5.
