Singer and rapper Aaron Carter accidentally drowned in a bathtub due to the sedative he took and the gas used in the spray cleaner he inhaled.
Carter was found dead in the bathtub of his Lancaster, Calif. home on Nov. 5, at the age of 34, after being submerged in water, according to an autopsy report from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
The sedative alprazolam, often sold under the brand name Xanax, was found in his system, as was the compressed gas difluoroethane. Euphoria when inhaled.”
Reports say the two substances rendered him incapacitated and drowned in the bathtub.
An autopsy was performed the day after Carter’s death, but results were withheld because toxicology tests often take months.
The younger brother of Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, Carter is a former child star and global pop sensation. That his biggest hits included I Want Candy, Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) and That’s How I Beat Shaq. Carter supported the Backstreet Boys on tour and launched a successful solo career at the age of nine, releasing their debut album. His second album, Aaron’s Party (Come Get It), was released in 2000 and earned him triple his platinum status. The former child star’s relationship with his family became strained later in his life. He filed for bankruptcy in 2013 and enrolled in rehab several times.
