The Icelandic act will perform songs from the new album with a 41-piece orchestra.
Icelandic art rockers Sigur Rós have announced dates for their 2023 summer tour across Europe and North America, featuring a 41-piece orchestra. A Transatlantic Journey is the supporting trio’s first album in a decade.
Sigur Roth – guitarist JónÞór “Jónsi” Birgisson,bassist Georg Holm and keyboardist Caltan Sveinson — The name of the album following 2013 has yet to be revealed lights up, there are few details available at the moment, except for the arrival month of June. Additionally, the band shared through a press release that they had “spent the past few years writing and recording” and that the album sessions were held at the prestigious Abbey Road Studios with the London Contemporary Orchestra. .
Sigur Rós will perform some of the new material alongside old favorites on tour with the London Contemporary Orchestra. His European performance will take place at London’s Meltdown Festival on June 16th. LCO will accompany the band on subsequent European tours, including Amsterdam, Hamburg and Paris.
Sigur Rós kicks off the North American swing on August 14th in Toronto, accompanied by Wordless Music Orchestra. In New York City, his two performances are at the Beacon Theater in Manhattan and the King’s Theater in Brooklyn on August 16 and 18, respectively.
After playing a concert in Boston on August 19th, Sigur Ross will head west via Minneapolis on August 21st. West Coast dates include August 24th in Seattle and her August 26th at The Greek Theater in Berkeley, CA. Sigur Rós wraps up his tour on August 28th in Los Angeles.
Some European tickets are now on sale. Pre-sales for his North American shows begin on Tuesday, March 21st. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 24th at 10am local time.
