This is a terrifying moment when a fanatical shooter approaches the gangster-turned-politician brothers in India and shoots them in the head.
In a shocking scene in Uttar Pradesh, Attic Ahmad was shot dead when he stopped speaking to a journalist on live television.
Ahmad, who has more than 100 criminal cases against him, has been arrested and was escorted by police for a court-mandated medical examination when the incident occurred.
This comes just two days after his son Asad Ahmad was shot dead by Uttar Pradesh police in what is considered an extrajudicial killing.
The gang was asked by a journalist why he had not attended his son’s funeral, and when he replied that he was not allowed to go, a shooter crept up behind him, pointed a gun to his head and fired at him, killing him. I killed him instantly.
While Attic falls to the ground, the shooter sprays him with several bullets.
Two other shooters then opened fire, killing their cousin and brother Ashraf, who had a similar criminal record.
A police officer and a journalist were also reported to have been injured in the shooting spree.
During the shooting, police apprehended the attackers after they were heard shouting the words “surrender” and “Jai Sri Ram,” a slogan praising a central figure in Hinduism.
“All three shooters are being held at three different police stations in the city,” the police chief confirmed after the attack.
The Uttar Pradesh government has also ordered the Judiciary Commission to investigate the attack.
Additional police units have been brought into the area and are now marching through the city.
The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, where the shooting took place, has been criticized for promoting “encounters,” a term used for extrajudicial killings in his state. He now forms a high-level commission investigating the killings.
Opposition politicians and human rights activists accused Adityanat and the ruling BJP of fostering “anarchy and lawlessness.”
“What would happen to the safety of the public if someone could be killed in open fire inside a police cordon? Former Chief Minister Akilesh Yadav tweeted.
“This creates an atmosphere of fear among the public. Some people seem to create such an atmosphere on purpose.”
Police have imposed a strict curfew and staged flag marches in the area to restore law and order.
The three shooters are in custody at three separate police stations pending an initial investigation.
