Fierce quartet St. Agnes returns with a new album, Bloodsuckers, out July 21st on Spinefarm. Pre-save the album here. Today, they released a video of the album’s raw title his track. Check it out below.
British native Saint Agnes is all about honest lyrics and hard-hitting vocal performances, along with angry music meant to give voice to those closer to the fringe than to the center. With violent riffs, venomous vocals, and a punk attitude, the title her track single serves as a no-holds-barred introduction to the Bloodsuckers album.
Vocalist Kitty A. Austin commented on the single and video: Pain and use it as fuel I burned We are not defined by what is done to us We decide who we are Who we want to be We are complete. We are worth. The video is an introduction to Team Bloodsuckers. Let’s participate
As gangster as the band, St. Agnes seeks to empower those who are beaten and bruised but refuse to lay down, and that’s a thread deep within Bloodsuckers — From Spine Farm in SA ‘s first album and a follow-up to 2019’s Welcome to Silvertown. , was issued by the band’s own label.
From the title track onwards, Bloodsuckers is a genre-bending body of work that draws on elements of metal, punk, industrial and grunge without being tied to a particular style. His 11 tracks here come straight from the source and are mostly self-produced and mixed (NIN collaborator Sean Bevan lends his mixing and production skills to “Follow You” ). Provocateur Mimi Barks adds to the chaos with a short, sharp shock that is a “body bag”.
Created months after the unexpected and untimely death of Kitty’s mother, Bloodsuckers explores a variety of themes, including psychosis, pent-up anger, undying love, and, of course, grief. A poignant reflection of Kitty’s still-raw emotions, from the trash-metal howl into the night of “Bloodsuckers” to the broken ballad “This Is Not The End,” it’s a nod to outsiders everywhere. It’s a call…
Kitty concludes: Even moments of anger, sadness, unexpected beauty and belief. I hope this is the record of the defeated, the crushed. We may be broken, but that doesn’t mean we’re not perfect. Vampires forever, Saint Agnes eternally.
