Royal Blood have announced an extensive North American tour in support of their next album. Return to the water below. News of the tour comes on the heels of the album and new single announcements last week, and general ticket sales begin Friday, June 2nd at 10am local time.
As previously announced, Royal Blood’s fourth full-length studio album return to the water below Due to be released on September 8th by Warner Records, ” is their strongest and hardest rock album to date. The album’s lead single, “Mountains At Midnight,” is available now.
Back To The Water Below is available for pre-order now. In addition to the digital release, the physical format includes deluxe vinyl (includes a bonus 7-inch with two additional tracks) and two of his cassettes, all exclusively at Royal Blood’s official stores. Available. Amazon will stock an exclusive gold vinyl, and HMV (UK only) and select indie stores will offer an exclusive clear vinyl. The range is completed with CDs and regular black records.
New single ‘Mountains At Midnight’ is a supercharged rush but a fresh take on the classic Royal Blood prototype. Mike Kerr ingeniously layers heavy wall sounds on bass alone, while Ben Thatcher’s rhythm swings simultaneously in a spacious groove that pushes us to submission. Mike’s lyrics complement the song’s spooky, spooky vibe with ferocious menace. “I’m a time bomb hooligan, I’ve come to light your fuse / A 24 carat thug in velvet gloves.”
Royal Blood presents a plethora of surprises without ever detracting from the essence of its identity. “Shiner in the Dark” adds a rock’n’roll swagger to the tight, danceable rhythm that characterized 2021’s album Typhoons. The distortion-free “The Firing Line” represents a larger departure, with 90s alternative his rock tones and later psychedelia underpinnings elevated by a ringing piano melody. “Pull Me Through” evolves further, fusing the wistful piano and bloody denouement that fans loved on their live favorite “All We Have Is Now.” These are the songs that not only provide a wide range of moods for the live show, but also dynamic contrasts that amplify the power of the most intense moments.
