A cool feature you didn’t know until recently: Playstation VR 2 lets you listen to your favorite music and podcasts while playing games.
I like listening to my own soundtrack. in real life and virtual reality.
Action-oriented titles, especially fighting and shooter games, can use custom music for explosive dynamics. For puzzle games, I like listening to something relaxing or learning from podcasts. Also, racing games like Gran Turismo 7 benefit greatly from having access to their own radio stations.
Playstation 5 natively supports music streaming services. Spotify and apple music, and this feature carries over to Playstation VR 2. Make sure you have turned off the in-game music beforehand.
By the way, did you know that you can use PS5 voice control to skip to the next song with voice commands? Or you can control Spotify from your smartphone. Just select PS5 as output device.
Quest 2: No Spotify Support Yet
One drawback is that the PSVR 2 doesn’t have a hardware volume control. In this case, we recommend getting Sony’s Pulse 3D wireless headset. It fits snugly into the headband of your VR headset and sounds much better than the included in-ear headphones.
Meta Quest 2 doesn’t yet have something common for PC VR users that is also supported by Playstation VR 2. I don’t know the reason for this. Spotify’s lack of support could be due to technical reasons or simply because Spotify doesn’t want to release an app specifically for Meta Quest 2.
So far, I’ve been able to listen to my music on my Airpods Pro. VR gaming sounds come through the built-in speakers and in-ear headphones in transparent mode. This is far from an optimal solution.
