Poppy announced her return with a teaser and release date for her new single “Church Outfit.”
The singer shared her Instagram post in front of a brick wall in an all-white outfit with the caption, “Church outfit available April 4 at 12am ET.” She also teased a snippet of the video on TikTok.
in a recent interview with Grazia, Poppy says this new era “began because I wanted a video that incorporated my dance background,” and appears to be working on her rock-based 2021 album, Flux.

She added that she worked in a backwards fashion focusing on specific aesthetic elements and created music based on those ideas.
Shortly after the release of her EP “Stagger,” the singer began hinting that new music was on the way. I left a teaser video.
The video’s equally creepy caption reads, “This is the dress I want to be buried in…”, which is now known to be the lyrics to “Church Outfit”.

Poppy caught up with NME at Reading Festival last year and opened up about feeling like an outsider and letting it shine during her performance.
“I don’t think you necessarily have to find your place in life to be happy. She said, “The steps are part of the big picture, you don’t have to find one specific place. You can be in many places.”
In her 4-star review of her 2021 album Flux, NME “We rarely get a glimpse of the ‘real’ poppy, and that would lead to the misconception that pop music is less rough and worthless than rock, which is not what this album is about.
“Finally, ‘Flux’ feels like a record about holding clear boundaries, constantly changing in the face of set expectations, and instead following your creative intuition.”
