PJ Harvey shares a second glimpse of new song “I Inside The Old I Dying” from his upcoming album. The drop also comes with an animated video directed by Cristobal Leon and Joaquin Coxinha.
“This delicate and beautiful song was not discovered by us until our last day in the studio,” Harvey said in a statement before speaking about co-creators Flood and John Parrish. “Over the past five weeks we’ve tried and failed to capture it, and then John reinvented the feel of the guitar pattern.”
“When he was demonstrating in the control room, Flood handed me the mic and pushed the record and I was sitting next to John trying to figure out how to sing,” she added. “The result somehow captures the fantastical, melancholic longing I was looking for.”
