(CNN) — A 21-year-old woman has been charged by Philadelphia authorities with escaping two inmates from a correctional facility and faces four felony counts, one of which has since been arrested.
Philadelphia police arrested and charged Shani Stohlling with criminal conspiracy, fleeing, obstructing arrest, and criminal use of communications facilities, according to criminal documents from the Philadelphia County City Court.
US Sheriff’s Department CNN affiliate WPVI-TV reported that Stallling was arrested in Philadelphia on Wednesday and was arraigned early Thursday morning. A city court set her bail at $500,000, according to court records.
Stallling’s public defender did not immediately respond to CNN’s request for comment.
Ameen Hirst, 18, and Nasir Grant, 24, entered Philadelphia on Sunday night through a “deliberately cut” hole in the fence of the facility’s recreation yard, according to the Philadelphia Prison Service. Escaped from the Delphia Industrial Correctional Center.
The men were missing for nearly a full day before being noticed by facility staff.
Grant was in custody for drug and gun violations. He was detained by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia’s Strawberry Mansions district, a sheriff’s spokesperson told CNN Thursday.
Federal marshals and Philadelphia police called the men “armed and dangerous” and offered a total reward of $25,000 for information leading to their arrest.
Philadelphia police said they had evidence of communication between Ms Sterling and Ms Hurst and that investigators believed she helped escape, according to WPVI-TV.
According to Philadelphia Police Department Deputy Chief of Investigations Frank Vanoa, Hirst, who is described as about 6 feet tall and weighs about 140 pounds, has been in custody since March 2021 on charges related to four murders.
In a statement, the Philadelphia Police Department’s Office of Professional Compliance said it was “actively investigating” jailbreaks, including reviewing security tapes and reviewing staffing at the time of a jailbreak.
Investigators are also looking into a phone call Grant and Hurst made before escaping from the 1,210-capacity, 56-bed prison, which is under lockdown until Friday.
