MANILA — The Philippines is Spotify’s third-largest market for K-pop girl group TWICE, according to the music streaming platform.
This happened after the idol group released the music video for “Set Me Free” last week.
The Philippines ranks second, behind the United States and Japan, which are first and second respectively.
With this, Spotify will feature TWICE as the newest K-pop group on the Idol Lounge. This is one of Spotify’s many initiatives to bring fans closer to the artists they love by allowing them to discover their idol’s musical tastes.
Presented to fans in the form of playlists, the Idol Lounge allows featured artists to freely curate their favorite music and include special messages for their song selections. In addition to tracks from the discography, fans can also enjoy a selection of their favorite songs from other artists.
Spotify’s Idol Lounge previously featured boy groups NCT127 and Stray Kids, both of which allowed fans to make personal song choices.
A nine-piece act formed under JYP Entertainment in 2015. According to South Korean media, they broke several records, dominated charts at home and abroad, and earned the title of the new “National Girl Group.”
