The Norman Police Department announced road closures, traffic and parking information in a press release Tuesday in preparation for Saturday’s Norman Music Festival and Phil the Stadium.
Fill the Stadium, a student-led religious organization, has partnered with Pulse, a religious non-profit organization, to host a free concert featuring Chance the Rapper on Saturday at the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The concert coincides with the final night of the Norman Music Festival, his 15-year three-day event featuring local and national bands and musicians.
Traffic delays are expected as Phil the Stadium sells about 60,000 tickets and 100,000 people are expected to attend the Norman Music Festival, according to NPD.
NPD provided maps showing recommended routes for each event.
Visitors to the Norman Music Festival were encouraged to enter Norman from north and west access points such as Flood Avenue, Robinson and Main Street.
Phil the Stadium attendees were directed to enter the city through Norman’s south and west entrances, such as by State Route 9.
The release also announced a number of road closures starting Wednesday, marked in red on the map. The first closure will be on James Garner His Avenue between Main Street and Eufaula Street this Wednesday through Sunday at 5 p.m.
Crawford Avenue between Gray and Main Street will be closed from 6pm Thursday to early Sunday morning. Main Street between Porter and Santa Fe Avenues will be closed Friday through Sunday.
Roads around the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium will be closed Saturday afternoon until the Phil the Stadium event concludes. These roads include Jenkins Avenue between Brooks Avenue and Lindsay Street, Lindsay Street from Elm Street to Jenkins Avenue, and Aspa Avenue north of Lindsey Street adjacent to the stadium.
The NPD included parking guidance, such as avoiding common parking violations such as parking along yellow curbs. The Gray Street public parking lot will close at 8 a.m. Friday, with 40 spaces reserved for annual permit holders until 6 p.m. Friday, according to the NPD.
