At least musically speaking, Nickel Creek goes home.
The Grammy Award-winning trio got their start in 1989 with a weekly bluegrass jam session in Carlsbad and will play at Jacob’s Park’s The Lady Shell on October 13th.
The San Diego concert is one of nearly 20 new dates announced Tuesday morning in the addition to Nickel Creek’s first tour since 2014.
The National Concert Trek begins April 15th in Cincinnati and ends October 21st in Austin. Newly added tour stops also include his October 20th and his 21st shows at the Theater at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles.
Nickel Creek mandolinist and singer Chris Schiele told the Union Tribune: He will perform at San Diego’s Bayside venue in 2021 as part of Yo-Yo Ma’s group Goat Rodeo.
An interview with Thile and fellow Nickel Creek co-founders Sara and Sean Watkins will appear in the Union-Tribune’s Arts & Entertainment section on Sunday, March 26th.
Tickets to the group’s October 12 San Diego concert range from $39.50 to $89.50 each, plus service charge. They will go on general sale at ticketmaster.com on Friday, March 24th at 10am. Online pre-sale starts at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 23
