NewJeans Fastest Kpop Act to Hit 1 Billion Spotify Streams

NewJeans broke the Guinness World Record to become the fastest K-Pop artist to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify.

Guinness World Records certified the record on March 8, 2023. Featuring Minzy, Hani, Daniel, Hyerin, and Haein, the group hit 1 billion streams on Spotify in 219 days. This is faster than other K-pop artists. This includes acts by men alone, women alone, or in groups. Only six songs were available on the platform for a K-pop artist to achieve this record.

This includes the four-track debut EP “NewJeans” and the singles “Ditto” and “OMG”, released on August 1, 2022.

NewJeans broke BLACKPINK’s Lisa’s Kpop all-comers record of 411 days from October 26, 2022. The solo artist record was broken by Jungkook of BTS fame on March 27, 2023 with 409 days. But NewJeans managed to come out on top. A relatively small catalog of songs was a huge success.

As of May 4, 2012, “Ditto” (313.2 million streams) and “OMG” (312.4 million) were tied for the group’s most streamed songs on Spotify. The group just released their latest single “”. Zero’ (18.07 million) is streaming as of May 4, 2023, and this will undoubtedly add to their impressive streaming debut.

Following J-Hope’s solo performance at last year’s festival, NewJeans will perform at Lollapalooza this year. NewJeans said they are considering releasing new music to fans this summer as the group have just finished recording their soon-to-be-debut new album.
