The New Mexico Music Awards spotlighted New Mexico musicians.
On May 7th, the 36th annual event was held at the Sandia Resort & Casino to recognize the latest winners.
Best of the Year went to Susan Holmes for her album The Susan Holmes Brotherhood, and Jono Manson won the coveted Norman Petty Producer Award for her latest release Stars Enough to Guide Me.
Winners posted about their awards on social media.
Taylor Dread, who won Best Rap Song for her single “DAVIDLEEROTHCHILD,” writes that this is the beginning of a great journey.
“It’s very special to have your art recognized in some way, but if your hometown or country of origin recognizes your art… man,” he wrote.
Over the course of his career, Manson says he has worked on many albums for different artists in different capacities.
“Self-production is a tricky thing, at least for me,” Manson wrote. “I’ve gotten a lot better over the years, but it’s a big job. All in all, I’m proud of what I’ve done on this album…”
