Spotify is a great place to immerse yourself in your favorite songs, but it’s also great for discovering new podcasts. Whatever interests you, chances are you have a podcast.
NPR News Now
NPR was one of the first podcasts I listened to. Before starting college, I realized that I wasn’t keeping up with the latest news as much as I would have liked. I felt ashamed when I was ignorant of current events happening around the world.
A friend of mine always told me that NPR is an unbiased news source and has an older section of news. They have news with editorial opinion and commentary, but “NPR News Now” reports the news in less than five minutes each day. .
We highly recommend incorporating news podcasts into your morning routine.
planet money
Originally, I discovered “planet money” in my freshman year economics class. My professor recommended listening to this podcast that helps him think like an economist and assigning specific episodes he thinks are worthwhile.
This podcast is much longer than the “NPR News Now” podcast. I usually listened to the “Planet Money” podcast he had for 30 minutes. Listeners can learn about how the economy works and several breaking news stories at the same time. During this podcast, I am always very enthusiastic.
therapy gecko
“Therapy Gecko” is a podcast by Lyle Drescher. Drescher dresses up as a lizard and talks to strangers as an unlicensed psychologist. Viewers can call in on air every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9pm.
In a relaxed and encouraging tone, Drescher dives into many of the complex issues people ask. Podcasts are entertaining, insightful, and engaging. Every episode is entertaining and a podcast like no other.
economist
After listening to a podcast by “The Economist,” I always feel very educated about the topics discussed. The topics help me understand today’s technology and business world.
I had one of my professors put me on this podcast, and I can honestly say it’s as fascinating as “Planet Money.” Talking about the economy can be considered very boring, but I personally think that “The Economist” does a great job of summarizing topics related to the economy.
what mama never told you
If you’re looking for a podcast about being a woman, this could be a great podcast for you. This podcast touches on feminism and growing up as a woman.
There have been some controversial opinions about the new and old hosts, and while I like to hear different perspectives, sometimes I agree that the show was one-sided.
I love hearing topics that I haven’t thought much about before, and bringing these topics to the surface of society is extremely valuable.
daily meditation
I came across this podcast while looking for a nighttime meditation podcast to help me fall asleep. I was pleasantly surprised to find this podcast with guided meditations for different situations and goals.
Episodes range from approximately 10-15 minutes. There are general guided meditations in the morning, noon and night. There are even meditations for emotions you may be feeling.
I love this podcast and mindfulness is something we all need more of.
ted talks daily
Most of us have heard a Ted Talk at some point in our lives. A thought-provoking and insightful talk.
“Ted Talks Daily” discusses a wide variety of topics and episode lengths vary considerably. If you’re looking for variety, this is the podcast. I always loved listening to Ted Talks. This podcast was an easy transition to hearing more.
Podcasts have become part of my daily life. They bring so much knowledge and perspective to my day.
We all have times when we can pop in our Airpods and listen to podcasts to pass the time. Find topics that interest you and hear lots of opinions. Expanding your knowledge on these topics is always a rewarding experience.
