GRANGEVILLE — At a special board meeting held on May 3, the Board of Trustees of Mountain View School District 244 decided to interview two candidates for Superintendent.
After a short public session and an hour-long executive session, the Trustees unanimously decided to interview Kim Spacek and Justin Barnes. In all, the Board reviewed six of her applications.
No information was provided about the candidates, but it was revealed that they both live out of state. bottom.
Misty Swanson, Executive Director of the Idaho Board of Education (ISBA), attended the meeting to help move the process forward as the MVSD hired ISBA to assist in its search for the superintendent. Superintendent Steve Higgins resigned earlier this year after holding the position for a year.
This week, MVSD President Melisa Kaschmitter and Vice President Larry Dunn will check out the references for both semifinalists. They and the rest of the board will ask the candidate a few follow-up questions. The interview is on May 16th.
Under Idaho law, we are not required to disclose the identities of additional applicants not selected as semi-finalists or finalists. MVSD supervisory positions are paid around $100,000, depending on experience.
