The New Jersey music icon – known for a long list of pop hits – returns to his roots in gospel music with his latest album.
Dionne Warwick will soon release a new album titled ‘Songs of Inspiration’.
“It’s time to hear something you can laugh at, have fun with, say nice things to people,” Warwick said of the feeling of the new album.
The song “I Kneel” is a duet with Warwick’s son, music producer Damon Elliot, and the voices of Newark’s Goodneighbor Baptist Church Choir.
“We always lead with conviction in whatever approach we take, musically and with our family…it was a very natural progression,” says Elliott.
“I Kneel” is the second single from the album. The first song united Warwick with another music icon, Dolly Parton.
“It was the first time I actually met her. I think it was three or four minutes. We were sitting together and suddenly we became best friends,” says Warwick.
Parton wrote the song “Peace Like A River”.
“And I loved what she wrote because I thought it was an old hymn I know, ‘Peace Like A River.’ She said, “No, I wrote this song about 10 years ago.
“I Kneel” mother-child collaboration will be released on Mother’s Day.
