A missing Ohio paramedic involved in a rape case limped into a convenience store on Thursday after fleeing a kidnapper who tried to set him on fire alive, reports said.
Rachel Jordan, 30, was found alive around 11 p.m. and was “taken to the Cleveland Infirmary for treatment,” city police confirmed.
Surveillance footage obtained by Cleveland 19 shows a battered, barefoot Jordan limping slowly into an open pantry convenience store in the Collingwood neighborhood.
The exhausted mother of two walked up to the store counter and slammed her hands against the plexiglass barrier before telling employees that the kidnappers had tried to kill her.
Ms. Jordan called for a call and immediately called 911 for help.
“You’ll never believe it. Rachel Jordan called,” the dispatcher told responding police.
“She said she ran away from the people who kidnapped her. They tried to burn her alive.”
A store clerk told the store that Jordan was “nervous, very tired, like someone.” [fought] With her,” he added, her shirt ripped and looking as if it was charred.
When Jordan showed up at a convenience store, he had been missing for five days.
Two days before he was due to testify Saturday in the rape trial of a man accused of stalking, the paramedic appeared after he went out “to retrieve something from a car parked on the street.” turned off.
She was scheduled to attend a pretrial hearing on Monday in a case involving longtime youth baseball coach Michael Stennett, who was charged with two counts of rape and one count of kidnapping in May 2022.
Jordan had reported a 65-year-old man for stalking him at least three times, including two days before his disappearance. She also alleged that a female friend of Ms. Stenett stalked her and tried to force her off the road.
Jordan’s twin sister, Rachel, who lived with him, said the windows of their home were shot through around 6 a.m. the day Jordan disappeared.
Stenett was charged Monday with one felony count of threatening to stalk and one count of violating a protection order while committing a felony. He is being held at the Cuyahoga County Jail on $100,000 bail.
It is unknown if Stennett or his female friends were involved in Jordan’s kidnapping.
Cleveland police provided few details about the incident and did not immediately respond to the Post’s request for comment.
