Acclaimed and Grammy Award-winning multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Meshell Ndegeocello will debut on Blue Note Records with ‘The Omnichord Real Book’ on June 16th. career.
Following her 2018 covers album Ventriloquism, Meshell returns with a new album of original material that draws on the broad spectrum of her musical roots. “The Omnichord Real Book” is produced by Josh Johnson and features Jason Moran, Ambrose Akinmusire, Joel Roth, Jeff Parker, Brandi Younger, Julius Rodriguez, Mark Guilliana, Cory Henry, Joan As Police Woman, Thandiswa.
“The Omnichord Real Book” was introduced today by the expansive lead single “Virgo.” This is his mind-altering eight-minute centerpiece on the album, featuring his Meshell on vocals, key bass and keyboards, Younger on harp and Rodriguez on Farfisa organ. , with Chris Bruce on guitar, Jevin Bruni on keyboards, Abe Lounds, DeAntoni Parks, and drums by Andria Ambro, with additional vocals by Kenita Miller and Marcia Deveaux.
