Matt Cameron has dispelled rumors that he’s joining Foo Fighters for the rock band’s upcoming tour dates.
On Saturday (March 25), the Pearl Jam drummer shared a post on his Instagram story denying recent reports by British tabloids. Sun He is replacing the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins when the group returns to tour in late spring.
“FYI, the internet rumors are false. I’m not on Foos,” Cameron wrote, along with a red heart emoji.
Sun & Airwaves drummer Atom Willard was scheduled to join the band led by Dave Grohl on various dates to come.
Cameron performed the Foo Fighters song “Low” with surviving band members at a tribute concert in Los Angeles in September 2022. Saturday (March 25) marked Hawkins’ one year anniversary since he died at the age of 50. Hawkins died in a hotel room in Bogota, Colombia, as the Whos were preparing for a performance. The beloved drummer’s death was announced through his social media statement from the band’s account, but no direct cause of death was given.
In a New Year’s Eve social media post, the Foo Fighters announced plans to continue as “a separate band” after Hawkins’ death.
