Mark Jackson interviewing for Milwaukee Bucks coaching job

Mark Jackson will get another chance to grab a second chance as an NBA coach.

He will be interviewing for a head coaching position with the Milwaukee Bucks. According to a report in The Athletic.

The Bucks sacked Mike Budenholzer as coach earlier this month after a crushing first-round win over the eighth-seeded Miami Heat despite being an Eastern Conference favorite.

The 58-year-old Jackson, now an NBA analyst for ESPN, has not been a head coach in the league for nearly 10 seasons.

His only tenure was with the Golden State Warriors from 2011-2014, and he memorably led the pre-dynastic Warriors to 51 wins in 2013-2014 before losing the first round. It was later canned.

He was then replaced by Steve Kerr, who has since led the team to four championships.

He has expressed his intention to coach again many times.

Jackson interviewed for coaching with the Sacramento Kings last year and was a finalist. He has also interviewed over the years with the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks.

If hired, he would coach NBA superstar and two-time former MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Budenholzer coached the Bucks from 2018-2023, two years after former Atlanta Hawks coach Budenholzer won his second Coach of the Year award from 2013-2018. won the NBA title in 2021.

Budenholzer was the Bucks’ longest-serving head coach since George Karl led the team from 1998 to 2003, but the team felt it was time to take the next step.
