Kimberly Walsh has confirmed that new Girls Aloud music is on the way.
The 41-year-old singer rose to fame alongside bandmates Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and the late Sarah Harding as one-fifth of Britain’s best-selling girl groups of the 21st century.
However, after breaking up in 2009, they decided to cut the mic completely in 2013 after their 10th anniversary tour.
Just two months before her first album, Sound of the Underground, turns 20, Kimberly told MailOnline EXCLUSIVELY that the girls will be dropping an unheard-of track to mark the occasion.
Last year, they celebrated that anniversary by releasing a demo version of their never-before-released debut single on 7-inch vinyl.
In memory of Sarah, who passed away from breast cancer in September 2021, 100% of the proceeds went to the Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal, part of the Christie Charitable Foundation.
The Bradford native, announcing the news to his fans, said:
’20 is a long time and my love for Sound of the Underground and some songs from the first album is still big.
“So it still feels like a celebration, but in a kind of low-key way, I think.”
Unfortunately, though, Kimberly said she won’t be returning to the studio anytime soon with the Love Machine divas she’s following.
She confided:
“I think there has already been one re-release of Sound of the Underground, with different girls singing different lyrics, and this is a lot of fun.
“I mean, if you’re a fan, it’s fun.
Today, the multi-talented Kimberly is busy presenting the BBC’s Morning Live and is the mother of four boys.
She shares sons with her triple 8 star husband Justin Scott, 40, whom she married in 2016, Bobby, 8, Cole, 6, and Nate, 22 months.
When asked if her kids were Girls Aloud fans, the actress gushed: “Yes they are!
Bobby is 8 now and I think a lot of the kids at school are starting to mention it, so Bobby is actually starting to listen a little more…
“He’s like, ‘Everyone else seems excited. Maybe I should be a little more excited.'” But before that he wasn’t really interested in what happened before he was born.
“He was like, ‘Anything that happened before I was alive was relevant.’ could lure me in
“Yeah, so he’s already using that to his advantage,” she joked.
Elsewhere, Kimberly partnered with McCain to launch a “Teatime to Talk” conversation card. After the study revealed
Voiced by Kimberly, each card was created with leading UK child psychologist Dr. Laverne Antrobus and is crafted to work for all families, regardless of age or ability.
She said of her latest venture:
“I think the conversation cards we created are a great way to start tea time conversations in any family. I can’t wait to try them out with my kids!”
“Teatime to Talk” conversation cards can be viewed or downloaded for free from McCain’s website (www.McCain.co.uk) and all major streaming platforms.
