Jose Mourinho gave one of the best post-match interviews of his legendary managerial career after AS Roma’s win over Bayer Leverkusen.
Roma defeated Leverkusen 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-final on Thursday, with Edoardo Bove scoring the only goal of the match shortly afterward.
The Serie A side will hold the lead heading into next week’s second leg as Mourinho, who won trophies during his time at Manchester United, looks to reclaim the Europa League title.
But he masterfully silences the reporters and refuses to congratulate them, so he realizes it’s just “halftime” for a tie.
After the result, a reporter congratulated Mourinho, who responded with one of his coldest interviews ever.
“It’s halftime, so I don’t get any congratulations,” he said. “I never celebrate at halftime and I never cry at halftime when we are losing.
“And I don’t like it when people congratulate me for winning at halftime.”
Mourinho’s interview has gone viral on social media with people hailing the Portuguese as one of football’s greatest speakers.
“That’s why Jose Mourinho is the most consistent and effective knockout manager of all time,” wrote one Twitter user.
A second tweeted, “One of the nicest speakers I’ve ever seen. He always makes sense and has straight points.”
The third added, “It’s the look after the congratulations.”
A Chelsea fan commented: “I’ve said it a million times and I don’t understand why you would hire a donkey when this guy comes to us.”
Another said: “Don’t worry about that…he’s just serious about his business and it’s great.”
The 60-year-old has a great vocabulary and fans love his recent statements about his club.
He wants to win more in Roma and is used to winning European competitions.
Will he be able to lead them to Europa League glory? please tell us
