JJ Redick interviews for Raptors’ coaching job, sources say

JJ Reddick, a 15-year NBA veteran and ESPN analyst, was interviewed this week about coaching the Toronto Raptors, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

Sources say Reddick is one of more than a dozen candidates who have spoken to the Raptors in the broader search process. Young, San Antonio’s Mitch Johnson, Sacramento’s Jordi Fernandez, Memphis’ Darko Rajakovic and Las Vegas Aces manager Becky Hammon have been given permission to interview multiple candidates, the report said. Current Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin is also a potential interviewee for the job, sources said.

Toronto parted ways with coach Nick Nurse on April 21. The Raptors finished the season 41-41 before losing to the Chicago Bulls in a 9-10 game in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament.

Reddick averaged 12.8 points per game in 15 NBA seasons with six teams: Orlando, Milwaukee, LA Clippers, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Dallas. He was Duke’s NCAA’s 2006 National Player of the Year.
