Jeremy Renner gave his first interview after suffering a life-threatening snowplow accident in January that left him with more than 30 broken bones.

Renner said he and his 27-year-old nephew Alex were trying to tow a Ford Raptor out of the snow with a snowplow. Renner’s plow began to slide on the ice as Alex removed the chains after getting his two vehicles out of the snow. Worried about his nephew’s safety, Renner puts one foot out of the plow and turns to Alex, neglecting to apply the parking brake. That’s when he lost his leg and fell out of the cab of the car.
“I happened to be a dummy who was standing a little bit on the Dan truck to see if my nephew was there. It’s like driving a ,” Renner said. “But that’s what it was. It was my mistake and I paid for it.”
Fearing that the vehicle would back up and Alex would be ‘trapped’ by the truck, Renner jumped into the Sno-Cat and tried to pull the vehicle away, at which point he was run over.
“By the way, when I got under things, that’s when I screamed,” Renner said.
Renner said he remembers “all” of the pain. “I was awake every moment. It’s exactly like you’d imagine,” he said. I was on asphalt and ice I wish I was on snow I felt like someone blew the wind out of you There was too much going on inside my body to feel the pain It’s like your soul can feel the pain.
Recalling the injury, Renner said, “I could see mine with my other eye.”
Alex was able to jump onto the Raptor before the plow hit the car, sending it flying into a nearby snowbank. When Alex got out of the car and ran to Renner, he “didn’t think he was alive.”
“It’s pretty scary to see someone you look up to be like that,” said Alex.
Alex runs to the nearest house in the area to find Rich Kovacs standing in the garage with the door half down. Alex grabbed Kobach by the leg and yelled, “Help!” Kovac and his partner Barb Fletcher came to the rescue.
Kobach and Fletcher remember trying to keep the actor alive while they waited 21 minutes for paramedics to move them through the snow. Renner was moaning loudly as he lay on the asphalt, as heard by the 911 call. “This was the sound of someone dying,” said Fletcher.
“I looked at his head and it looked like it had a big crack in it and I saw something white. I thought I saw it. So I knew it was very serious,” Kovach said. “He had blood coming out of his ears. His eyes looked like they had been hit.”
Fletcher adds: I really feel he died for seconds. It’s true. “
Renner was eventually flown to a hospital in Reno, where his family met him. When they arrived, Renner signed “I’m sorry” to them in sign language. “It is my responsibility. I am sorry that my actions have caused so much pain.”
Renner’s injuries were so severe that he wrote a farewell letter to his family at the hospital. “I’m writing a note on my phone. Last words to my family,” Renner said through tears. “Don’t let me live in a machine tube. If my existence depends on drugs and painkillers, let me go now.”
Speaking about Renner’s injury during an interview, Sawyer said: Right knee, right ankle fracture, left leg tibia fracture, left ankle fracture, right clavicle fracture, right shoulder fracture. His face, eye sockets, jaw and mandible are broken. his lungs collapsed. A liver sticking out of a rib is scary. ”
Renner’s ribcage and eye sockets were reconstructed with metal plates and screws, and his jaw was repaired with rubber bands and screws. His fractured leg had a titanium rod implanted in it.
As Renner continues to recover, he said it would be okay not to do the stunts himself. “I’m fine with the stuntman doing it at this point. I’m 52. I’m fine. We’ve done enough,” Renner said. “I could do more. But I have no ego. I’m in my own trailer.”
However, painful memories of the accident still haunt his mind. “Last night I couldn’t sleep because of the shit because I knew I had to talk about it today. I have no regrets. I’d do it again,” he said, adding, “I don’t know if it’s traumatic or negative.
