This family his entertainer features an ensemble of key roles including Souka Janaki, Rajendra Prasad, Gautami, Raolamesh, Naresh, Beneraki Shore, Vasuki, Ramyasubramanian and Anjuaru Vikanaik. Priyanka Dutt produced the film. We had a quick chat with Santosh Sobhan ahead of the May 18th release. Here is the record:
How did the movie start?
I received my first prepaid check from Ms. Priyanka Dat Gal. Five years later, I got the right project at the right time. I am very happy and very grateful that this happened. When I heard the story, I didn’t know who the artist was, but I knew there would be a lot of inflated artists in the film. Happy to work with Priyanka Gul and Nandini Reddy Gul.
What element of the film’s story appealed to you?
Working with a director like Nandini Reddy Gul is one of the best things that ever happened to me. Ala Modalaindi and Golconda High School were released during the weekday. I love Ala Modhalaindi and, like Kushi and Toliprema, it redefined the romantic comedy genre.
Do you think Anni Manchi Saknamul bodes well for your career?
Never in my career have I come across a story like Anni Manchi Saknamul. Not to disparage other movies, but I can say that this is my greatest movie ever. Anni Manchi Saknamul is a movie that should be seen on the big screen. I am happy to have a movie like this in my career.
Is this movie a romantic comedy entertainer or a family entertainer?
The film’s strength lies in drama and emotion. It’s a fun movie, but it’s also a movie that makes you cry. Nandini Reddy Gal is good at making this kind of film. This movie will be very refreshing with more emphasis on emotion.
What influence does your father have on you?
When he left us, I was too young to understand what cinema was all about. Looking back at his work, I begin to be influenced. He’s an amazing writer and I wish I had spent more time talking to him about movies and life. My dad is really ahead of his time.
There are complaints that the film is overdone. what do you think about this?
To be honest, I myself was frustrated by doing too many movies. What people felt was right, and over-released. I don’t want that to happen anymore. It happened because of poor planning on my part. Some things are beyond my control.
Could you tell us about your upcoming projects?
I plan to do another film with UV Creations. After that, I haven’t signed any projects yet. I decided to make a career plan carefully without rushing.
