Nani’s Dasara will have a grand release in multiple languages on March 30th. Directed by Srikant Odella, the film is being produced by Sudhakar Cherukri under the banner of Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas. Keerthy Suresh was the female lead and Santosh Narayanan was in charge of the music. I had a brief exchange with Keerthy Suresh prior to the release. Here is the transcript.
Your role on Dasara seems more difficult. Could you elaborate?
Played Vennela, a challenging role in Dasara. It used to take hours to apply and remove makeup. We shot the film in a rustic setting surrounded by dust and coal, and my character has to speak in her Telangana dialect. It was hard at first, but I got used to it later. Vennera’s character connects with everyone.
How was the conversation in the Telangana dialect?
Srikanth Odela’s assistant, Srinath, taught me the Telangana dialect. He has a good command of his Telangana slang. We also had a professor on our team. He paid attention to every detail. I dubbed the movie myself. With Dasara, dubbing usually ends in 2-3 days, but it took 5-6 days.
You said that when you worked at Dasara, you had a Mahanati vibe. Please tell me why you feel that way.
Artists will have certain feelings about the film they are working on. We connect to movies emotionally. I had the same emotional attachment to Mahanathi, and now I have the same feelings for Dasara.
What kind of homework did you do for this movie?
Director Srikanth Odella wrote the perfect story and was clear about what he wanted. The director has a vision that would have written the story and characters. As an actress, she tries to understand her director’s vision and then does her own work.
After Nenu Local, how was your experience working at Nani?
After Nenu Local, I’ve been waiting for a character like Vennela and finally got it. Vennela is a very different character that I have been waiting for a long time.
After Mahanathi, there was talk of working in Bollywood. But you didn’t. Dasara is now available in all languages, what do you think about it?
I heard some stories, but I felt that the characters were not very strong. Dasara is released in all languages, so you may get some offers. I want to work in Bollywood, but I need good stories and strong characters to do that.
