shadow and bone Season 2 has begun, and one of the most exciting aspects of this season is spending so much time with Crows. More specifically, we spend time together as Jesper (Kit Young) navigates his new relationship with Wylan (Jack Wolfe). All the while he is working on his own power and understanding of who he is.
In the chaos going on around them, Jesper and Wylan find time to explore their relationship together and actually develop their love for each other over time. So I asked about the joy of bringing that kind of storyline to life in a show like this. shadow and bone.
At the season 2 round-table discussion shadow and boneI asked both Young and Wolfe about this relationship and its significance to their characters.
“Actually, I think what you said is stuck in my head as to why it’s important to me,” said Wolfe. It’s really important to me that characters like and other characters like Jesper get to engage in genuinely playful and loving relationships…in utter chaos.In the fantasy genre, it’s dangerous and I think it’s rare to see characters doing bad things, doing bad things, and falling in love in a world where sexuality like them isn’t part of the journey. That’s really cool to me, and when I found it, I feel so lucky to have worked with someone like Kit.He’s so open, so warm, so receptive It was really special to me.”

In Season 1, we got to see Jesper explore his time with Crows while unlocking a lot about himself. Jesper’s sexuality was never an issue, and his openness about who he loved was something that was accepted and not questioned by the Crows. Instead of worrying about someone tearing Jesper apart for the Jesper he loves when he’s in pain, we’re focused there.
For Young, he agreed with much of what Wolfe said about Jesper and Wylan’s relationship, and has dived further to explore its significance in shows like shadow and bone“Now that I have the luxury, I think it’s about all of us to have a season where we can discover who he is,” he said. When paired with this person, they reveal other parts and other elements of who they are, discover different things, and try to unlock something for each other. There was a lot to be expected from developing relationships and acting on screen. It was not in vain.”
Young spoke about how the cast and creatives cared about doing Jesper and Wylan’s story justice. If there is, I think I can speak for everyone here,” Young said. I’ve worked in , and that’s not to say that someone cares or doesn’t care, but there are different levels of commitment, and it works, and it’s what we do with blood. We’ve poured sweat and tears into it so hopefully what you’re seeing is something we’re already proud of and it’s just a joy, so we can move on. Wherever we are, we are all working on the game and excited to do it, given the chance to continue.”
