“MMMBop” has been upgraded for the new generation.
Way back in 1997, Hanson released catchy pop songs that paved the way for the late ’90s pop era. Twenty-six years later, brothers Taylor, Isaac and Zac Hanson have teamed up with British pop-punk band Busted for MMMBop 2.0. The result is a track that’s equally catchy and body-shaking.
“I’m glad you’re enjoying MMMBop 2.0 @busted. Some things never change…except the keys you play!” Hanson shared a clip comparing both versions on Instagram on June 5. captioned.
The Hanson and Busted singers take turns harmonizing, giving the verse a new edge. According to a press release, the latest version is described by the band as “a new burst of pop-punk punch”.
“It was a thrill to reimagine ‘MMMBop’ with Busted and see how a song with such history comes to life in a new way,” said Taylor Hanson when the song was released. “This is a true fusion of Hanson,” he said in a statement. And Busted, can’t wait to share it. “
Busted’s James Bourne added: It will be really special to have them as special guests on our tour in September, we are huge Hanson fans! “
Hanson will join Bourne, Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson on Busted’s UK and Ireland tour starting in September.
“MMMBop” was Hanson’s lead single from her 1997 debut studio album, Middle of Nowhere. It was a huge hit and earned him two Grammy nominations after reaching number one on Billboard’s Hot 100. The trio will release their latest album ‘Red Green Blue’ in May 2022.
