Meg Duffy newly announced habit of hands record, sugar the blueswill be released on June 16th by Fat Possum. (It’s the first album for the label, after the Saddle Creek and Woodsist records). Luke Temple (Here We Go Magic, Art Feynman) and Philip Weinrove (Adrianne Lenker, Cass McCombs), the song was inspired by a month-long songwriting class in the summer of 2021.
“for sugar the bluesI had no plan other than to keep my head blank and lean into the playful side of things,” says Meg. What if making a song doesn’t mean digging the abyss? Of course, in bassline, I gravitate toward feeding the memory’s unfolding into something beautiful, archetypal/universal, and sharing it with you. And like all good muses, it’s easy to project the stories you have onto them. is that these songs provide a mirror for those who can’t find a way to explain themselves the twisted emotional knots we deal with.
the first single sugar the bluesYou can listen to the lovely opening song, “Something Wrong,” below.
