As Uproxx pointed out, the MC quickly jumped into the comments section and provided a well-received answer. “I’m OTW he is,” he wrote.
While Gunna’s comments have reassured fans, many have wondered when exactly he will release new music. Anticipation skyrocketed Tuesday when producer Beldon Didthat posted another unreleased clip of the Gunna Joint. Beldon, who worked with the YSL artists on 2018’s “Okay”, captioned the video with “New Gunna” and tagged producer Babywave, who was also there.
“If I ever have to get out of the police, bros will be held accountable/Look again, no, my gun fired,” Gunna can be heard rapping in the clip. “Forgive my sins, and they were mad that I walked out.”
The lyric is clearly a reference to YSL’s legal battle, in which Gunna, Young Thug and more than 20 YSL associates were named in a massive indictment accusing them of criminal activity. Most of the defendants were arrested in the spring of 2022 and charged with conspiracy to violate the Extortion Influence and Corrupt Organizations Act. Gunna was among those who accepted the “Alford Petition”, which admits responsibility for the alleged crimes while maintaining innocence.
Immediately after being released from prison, Gunna received mixed reactions. While some congratulated the rapper on his release, many suspected he secured his freedom by cooperating with prosecutors. His attorney, Steve Sadow, referred to the alleged snatching in an Instagram post, claiming the backlash against his client was based on a lie.
“Ganna did not tip to get out of prison,” Mr. Sadow wrote in December. “He said nothing and did not cooperate. His arguments cannot be used in court against other defendants. So please stop spreading lies.”
“Bread & Butter” is now available to stream on Apple Music and Spotify. It’s unclear if the track will be part of her full-length Gunna project, or if it’s a stand-alone song meant to keep fans engaged. The rapper’s last album DS4Everarrived on January 7, 2022.
