On Thursday, April 13, Prince William County U.S. Attorney Amy Ashworth said Sincan Lewis Blakeney was charged with second-degree murder in Alford in the 2019 shooting of Tristan Sellers in Woodbridge. He said he had not filed an objection.
Judge James A. Willett subsequently sentenced Brackney to 40 years in state prison, 20 years suspended, and five years of supervised probation after release.
Sellers, who passed by “Slim Tristan,” was at the DMV recording studio in Woodbridge on November 18, 2019, and was with Blackney when the two began discussing the production of the music track, he said. Ashworth said.
At that time, Brackney shot Sellers, who was unarmed, and was declared dead by paramedics at the scene.
Blakney was identified as a suspect and subsequently arrested with the help of a U.S. Marshals Task Force and Greenbelt Police Department in Greenbelt, Maryland.
“Violent crime has no place in our community and will be vigorously prosecuted,” Ashworth said. “My heart goes out to the families of the victims.”
