The Florida Atlantic Owls had yet another surprise victory in Saturday’s NCAA Tournament. Then Head He had a surprising request from his coach Dusty He May.
After the No. 9-seeded Owls defeated the No. 3 Kansas State Wildcats 79-76, TBS Sports’ Allie Laforce tried to corral the winning coach for a mandated post-game interview on the court .
We may agree, but only under one condition. LaForce explained to viewers:
So the whole team came to May on camera for the interview.
“When you see everyone heading in the same direction… something special happens”?

What made this moment memorable was that players received special “Final 4” hats as the interview progressed. The players put on their hats and put them on May’s head, tilting them at interesting angles.
“When you see the coaching staff, the players, everyone going in the same direction every day, even if it’s hard, something special happens,” May said.
The Owls are the only true Cinderella team left after all the No. 1 seeds faltered before the Elite Eight for the first time in history in the craziest NCAA tournament in history. This is his second time in his 30-year history of the basketball program that the FAU will play in the NCAA Tournament. Owl had never won a tournament before this year.
Now they’re on their way to the Final Four.
