After leading the team as the starting tailback last season, Wiley will continue to lead the running back group this season. As new talent emerges and new plays are rotated into the system, fourth-year running backs will have to adapt to this responsibility of manning the rep.
“That responsibility to me is to lead by example,” Wiley said. “I’m not that hayabusa type, but one thing I can do for him is come to work every day…running him back he’s doing well for the group to follow me.” And I think you are.”
Wiley was the team’s spokesperson and leader, but it was also the younger players that motivated Wiley to do more.
“Just by being by your side (Jonah Coleman) And (Luke), they push me,” Wiley said. “They make me better.
Graham also notes Wiley’s rise as a leader.
“Mike did a great job coaching me,” said Graham. “You just see him mature and become a leader, pushing the funky-behaving guys aside and really developing a room to pick them up.”
