Fenville — Five candidates have been selected for interviews as Fenville Public Schools seeks the next superintendent.
The school district’s school board met on Thursday, May 11, to discuss candidates. From the 15 applicants, the board selected five to bring in for interviews later this month, including two from out of state.
The nominees chosen are Nicole Reyhelme, Amy Mielke, Jason Stowe, Carlos de la Barrera and Doug Greer.
First round interviews will be held Monday through Tuesday, May 22nd and 23rd at the Fennville High School Library and Media Center at S. Memorial Drive 4.
The Board will meet on Tuesday with Mr. Reyhelme (4:00 p.m.), Mr. Mielke (5:30 p.m.) and Mr. Stowe (7:00 p.m.) and on Wednesday with Mr. Delavarrera (4:00 p.m.) and Mr. Guria (5:30 p.m.). minutes).

Mr. Reyherme is currently the Director of Secondary Education and Technology for the Mill Valley School District in Mill Valley, California. Mielke is the principal of Sycamore Elementary School in Hopkins. Mr. Stowe is a retired superintendent of Leland Public Schools from 2010 until he is 2020.
De La Barrera is currently the principal of North Windham Elementary School and Windham Middle School in Windham, Connecticut. He had previously been interviewed for the position of Superintendent of Public Schools in the Netherlands in 2021.
Mr. Greer is Director of School Improvement for the Ottawa Area Middle School District. He was a finalist for the position of Superintendent of Hamilton Community Schools last spring.
“I am encouraged by the candidates who are interested in becoming the next leader in continuing to propel our school district to ‘Fennville Forward,'” Board Chairman Toby Hutchins said in a statement. . “Our applicant pool is filled with high-quality candidates who we believe would be a great fit for our wonderful school district and community.
“We look forward to learning more about the attributes and abilities of our candidates and what each candidate can offer our diverse students, staff and community.”
Hutchins added that the board values public opinion and encourages community members to participate in interviews. The city of Fennville hopes to have a new superintendent on July 1.

The district is looking for a new leader after current superintendent Jim Graydanus announced his retirement on June 30. Graydanus has been superintendent of the FPS since September 2017, and prior to that he was the principal of Fennville High School for more than four years.
The Michigan Institute for Leadership is leading the search for Fennville’s superintendent. The company led the search for Mr Hamilton last year and now leads strategic planning in both Fennville and Zeeland.
