“It’s going to be a record low / How far foolish Jack will go / From one night alone with her ghost in this house / Heaven only knows / If I can let her go / ‘Cause I’ve never seen the gravel fly so high / I’ve never seen more tears in my green eyes / I’ve never seen taillights burn so bright No / Never heard her taunt more than last night / Never a record / Goodbye,” Marlowe belts out on the breakup single.
Marlowe’s latest release follows his collaboration with fellow country riser Kasey Tyndall on the honest single “Place For Me.”
Written by Tyndall, Jason Gantt, Jason Nix, and Jenna LaMaster, the song uses cheeky comparisons such as Jesus drinking wine and rednecks drinking beer to show how heaven is in the eyes of rednecks. It describes in detail what it looks like.
“I wrote this song because I thought that if my rowdy grandpa could go to heaven one day, I could go to heaven,” Tyndale joked. “I am reminded of a passage from Matthew that says to keep your treasures in heaven. He’s a great artist and when he heard the song, he loved it as much as I did, so it felt right.”
