(CNN) Utah lawmakers praised the dead ice climber for his “brave and brave” actions, pushing another climber out of the way of falling ice.
The 41-year-old woman was climbing an ice waterfall with two others Sunday in Duchenne County near Indian Canyon when the icicle suddenly collapsed, according to the Duchenne County Sheriff’s Office.

“One climber pushed a 21-year-old fellow climber out of the way and probably saved her life,” the sheriff’s office said. The displaced climber was trapped under two huge blocks of ice and did not survive.”
The deceased woman was identified as Meg O’Neill in a statement her employer, Embark Outdoors, sent to CNN affiliate KSTU.
A 34-year-old man was injured after falling about 40 feet when the icicle broke, officials said.
A 21-year-old woman got off the ground and drove to the city of Duchenne to seek help.
After rescuers arrived, the man was hoisted from the mountain and airlifted to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
