London-based trio Dream Wife – vocalist Rakel Mjöll (she/she), guitarist Alice Go (she/she), bassist Bella Podpadec (they/them) – recently released a sensational third album. The album “Social Lubrication” will be released on June 9th through Lucky Number. .
The band has already shared two singles – the cheeky “Hot (Don’t Date A Musician)” and the rock-heavy call-out “Leech” – and made an explosive return to the states for a packed SXSW. I was. We’ll be back with a new single and US tour dates announced.
Produced by the band’s own Alice Go, “Orbit” shows Dream Wife at their best as they prepare to release their new record. “Written through the joy of jamming together and rocking grooves like a multi-limbed space-age organism, ‘Orbit’ echoes his early 2000s rendition of bands like the New Young Pony Club and the Yee Yeah Yeahs. It has a dance-rock edge to it,” explains the band.
“Lyrically, it’s inspired by the resurgence of post-lockdown London, sharing space through friendship and community. It’s something you never know if you can be close all day long, heartbeats, phases, or lifetimes.”

Social Lubrication was mixed by duo Alan Mulder (Nine Inch Nails, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Killers, Depeche Mode) and Cesar Edmonds (Wet Legs, Beach House). This is a completely self-produced album.
The album once again finds the band playfully tackling big themes like bodily autonomy, dismantling patriarchy and using platforms for the greater good.
Social Lubrication follow their UK Top 20 breakthrough with their sophomore album So When You Gonna. Next came remixes for Rina Sawayama, Nova Twins, Porridge Radio and an international tour at festivals such as Lollapalooza (USA). Laneway (AU), Summersonic (JP), Primavera (ES), Pitchfork (FR), as well as Garbage, The Kills and even his Rolling Stones slots in Hyde Park are open.
