Hi, how are you today?
Yurrrr, I would say I’m exited! Everyday is a step closer for me to live the life of my dreams so im very hopeful and optimistic everyday. But damn I’m mad impatient I already wanna be on plane after plane going to perform at my own shows
Where are you from?
I’m from upstate New York specifically Johnson City. Yeah im not shocked if you never heard of it either
When did you start making music – and what or who were your early influences?
So I have been writing lyrics since I was in 8th grade, but I didn’t actually make my first song until I was about 18. I hit up about 17 different producers in the area until I found the perfect match. My earliest influence was Ariana Grande for sure. For the longest people were telling me that I sounded like Ariana Grande mixed with Fantasia but I don’t know too much about that now. I listened to Ariana’s Sweetener album non stop for months and I pretty much was like “yup I need to make music like this or better” that album really made me feel something for real
What skills do you think artists need to be successful?
TALENT. Don’t force something that you’re not gifted in. I also think Artists need to be very secure in themselves and unapologetically defend their music/work. A lot of times you’ll hear so many different voices saying “oh you should’ve wrote this, shouldn’t have added that, shouldn’t have wrote this” etc and its like fuck what everyone is saying. Some people won’t fuck with your craft but 1000s of others will. People will respect that in the end.
How do you stay up to date with the latest music trends?
I’m very much on social media so I just know what’s trending especially through TikTok.
When performing, what techniques do you use to engage the audience?
When I perform its always about the eye contact and the way you take up the stage. No one is gonna be moved but someone who standing there with their eyes closed the whole song and stands in the same exact spot. I used to be a worship leader at my church and what helps is guiding the audience like “put your hands up” or “clap just like this” a lot of people don’t know what to do so it helps when you guide a crowed and make em all do the same thing. So yeah just try to get people to participate.
What would you say is the most rewarding part of being an artist?
When you make a song and you hope that you can convey a certain message and that the other listener will FEEL something and then they tell you the exact message you tried to convey. Like damn you really connect with me off of my shit that’s dope fr.
How did you spend your lockdown/pandemic time?
What did you accomplish before the entertainment world began to open up again? During the pandemic I was pregnant and couldn’t really do much other then sing for church online but I wasn’t focused on music at the time. But knowing what I know now I coulda used it to my advantage because people were home and on their phones way more.
What makes you different from other artists?
I feel a lot of artist nowadays are doing music because it serves them, the fame, and just because they’re good at it, but I know I was created for me to give life and love through music. I want to feed peoples souls with that good juice. A lot of people are out here writing garbage and singing about shit they don’t even care about for clout and its mad weird to me, but I don’t know maybe I’m thinking too deep.
Last question, when not making music, where can we find you?
When I’m not making music you can find me at Wegmans cause ya girls loves food. But other than that I’m usually home with my son and my man bumping, sparring, baking stuff, making tiktoks. Idk this world is getting type crazy and people are unhinged so I be inside even though I absolutely hate it.
