Canadian alternative rock band Dizzy have released the fourth single from their self-titled third LP, out August 18th. This tender song explores the bittersweet fragility of young relationships, inspired by a bus breakdown during the band’s 2019 tour. It’s a hymn to the smoldering embers of missed flights, bad timing, countless dangers and what-ifs.
“Close” is sweet and forgiving, tired and intimate. Her lone guitar riff serves as the song’s backbone, with lead her singer Katy supporting her Manshaw’s lilting verse, rising beside her as the track’s chorus shimmers. The accompanying music video is deliberately simple, with aching tastes of blues and grays that further heighten the sense of gentle melancholy that permeates this song.
