(CNN) A Delta Air Lines passenger was arrested after opening one of the plane’s doors and sliding down an emergency exit slide while preparing to take off from Los Angeles to Seattle on Saturday.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the crash of Delta Air Lines Flight 1714 occurred around 10:40 a.m. local time as the plane was docked at Los Angeles International Airport.
The FAA said the plane, a Boeing 737, was about to taxi for takeoff on the runway when a passenger activated the emergency exit slide and exited the plane.
The passenger was first detained by Delta staff before being arrested by local law enforcement, the statement read.
“Customers are being re-accommodated on new aircraft and we apologize for the inconvenience and delays in travel plans,” the FAA said.
The FAA is investigating this incident. CNN has reached out to Delta Air Lines and the Los Angeles Airport Police Department for additional information.
